posted on 2024-01-16, 17:20 authored by Lest We Forget Project Team

Private James Parkin (12743) served with the 8th Battalion West Riding Regiment. He was reported to have died of his wounds received in the Dardanelles in October 1915, leaving a young wife and 2 children. Letters of condolence were received by the widow from Kitchener and the Boys Brigade. A card was printed to announce his death and his name was inscribed on the roll of honour at Luddenden Foot Working Men's Club.

A letter dated 31st December 1915 was later received to say an error had been made and that James was in hospital in Bristol. James was discharged before 11/11/1918 but transferred to the reserves.
