Black and white photograph of Pte John Mitchell, the contributor's great grandfather, Service No. 14120, A Company, 10th Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, killed during a bombing raid on German trenches, east of Arras, 6th January 1917.

John's mother, Maggie Moyes Mitchell, visited his grave in the Faubourg d'Amiens cemetery in 1921. She contracted sleeping sickness and died in 1922.

Note: CWGC records give his father's name as John Mitchell, of "Tyrie", Lochgelly, Fife.
