3279: Commemorative brooch

A brooch purchased in an Edinburgh antiques shop. Owner (a researcher in textiles and fashion) understands that women would have worn such brooches to show support or remembrance for a particular event or regiment. The brooch is engraved 'SAVY', which the owner understands to mean a place or battle of the war; date unknown, possibly a wood or forest. The propeller and wings likely mean that this relates to the air force. This style of brooch may have been made behind the lines, sold as a souvenir, then sent home. Possibly mass produced. Has a stamp/engraving on the back, 'DEPOSE', possibly the name of the maker. Note from transcriber - CWGC's Savy British Cemetery is in Aisne, France, and there are two Royal Flying Corps graves there, which may be relevant, PGK.
