3271: Gnr. George "Harry" Briggs (medals, battlefield artefacts)

George "Harry" Briggs was born in Cookley near Kidderminster on the 1st December, 1894.

He enlisted in his home town in 1916 joining the Royal Field Artillery. He later transferred into the 27th Brigade, R. F. A. and was killed in action during the Spring Offensive of 1918 on the 27th March.

George is remembered on the walls of the Pozieres Memorial in France.

Although not a member of the Roman Catholic Church, he carried a rosary whilst serving.
