32366: Corona Cultural Festival

online resource
posted on 2023-12-08, 21:32 authored by Lockdown2020 and Beyond Project

This time in lockdown has been an odd mixture for me; I've been shielding since March so have had to explore the world in different ways! I had a full Oxford term studying Music, but have also needed to exert some creativity in order to replace my normal musical activities! This left me to start the Corona Cultural Festival which allowed everyone involved to share and enjoy culture in a new way. The week is split up into Musical Monday (when our radio show happens) Good News Day Tuesday, Workout Wednesday, Talking Thursday, Foody Friday, Skillshare Saturday, and Sunday Crafternoon.

History

Message for the future

I hope you are staying creative and hopeful. This festival and all that it means to you and others has the ability to provide inspiration despite everything that's going on, and hopefully will long outlive this virus!

About the picture(s)

Here are some of the staple elements of the Corona Cultural Festival. The speed with which this idea was picked up by so many people is a testament to the importance of the arts and culture during such a fraught time. It has allowed for international sharing of recommendations of books, tv, films, music, podcasts and more. I share the very best news stories and success stories on the instagram account @coronaculturalfestival, and my friend Joel does a two hour radio show every week (the music of which is available on a spotify playlist).
