Another Bank Holiday in lockdown changed for the 75th Anniversary of VE Day. This certainly needed effort and recognition. Our village celebration was cancelled. Our personal plans, to have visitors and attend Wallingford Car Rally were cancelled too. Then I found details of Front lawn picnics and heard that other neighbours were taking part. In no time at all I printed off bunting, made paper chains, found many things red, white and blue, then got baking ( yes we had flour and eggs left).
The sun shone and neighbours came out. Folks that passed by whilst exercising had a chat whilst maintaining social distance. We met new villagers for the first time and it would have been lovely to have been able to share cake and tea. We took part in a photo shoot to record our village in lockdown, carried out by a local photographer on her daily exercise cycle ride.
A memorable day indeed.When
