31844: Covid Cohort
I'm part of the "Covid Cohort", one of hundreds of thousands of Masters students who suddenly found their course cut short one day in March, just like my godson who didn't get to finish his BTEC, my niece her undergraduate degree or my friend's daughter, her GCSEs or even go to her prom. I'm lucky in that I'm a part-time student, so at least I (should) get to go back in September, but everyone else on my course was full-time, so I may never see them again. Over a half were international, some already too late to get home to Iran or China, and so became stuck on campus, with no part-time jobs or facilities. Those who got back to Canada or Poland in time had to self-isolate away from their families for two weeks after they landed. Meanwhile we all try to finish assignments, revising, listen to pre-recorded lectures and write dissertations, whilst worrying about what Covid-19 means to our families and our futures.
