The introduction of Nexus 365 at the university over the last year has meant we're now used to Teams calls, but in nowhere near the quantity we have now. Briefings, project meetings, team catch-ups, one-to-ones and even Knitters United are now all Teams video calls. The normal meeting buzzwords replaced with "can you hear me?" or "I think you're on mute". We play with virtual backgrounds but really enjoy seeing inside other's homes, nosying around home offices, kitchens, dining rooms, lofts and bedrooms. Pets, partners and children make guest appearances. Some people dress for the office, others stay casual. None of us wear shoes, but hopefully everyone wears pants. Then in the evening we do it all again, this time on Zoom with virtual pubs, quizzes and chats with everyone from my octogenarian in-laws to mum's two year old great-great nephew. We celebrate my niece's 21st and my father-in-law's 80th as best we can together, knowing we have a lot of real-life parties to be had when we can be with each other again.

History

Message for the future

Keep in touch, especially with those who are on their own or vulnerable. Lockdown teaches you who matters to you, and who you matter to.

About the picture(s)

My friends and I, all professional, working women, were discussing what we wear on work calls. This was the result.
