Henry (Harry) Bellarby was my great uncle and brother of my grandfather, William Bellarby. He was the son of Alfred Bellarby and Martha Bellarby, nee Hamer. He was born on 07/06/1884 at Rochdale, Lancashire, England. He married Emily Whittington on 17/09/1907 at High Crompton, Lancashire, England. She died on 08/04/1911 due to prolonged labour. They had no children. In civilian life, Harry was an upholsterer.

He died of malaria in India on 04/08/1919 and was buried the same day in Poona (St. Sepulchre's) Cemetery. He was a private in the 1st Garrison Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment. His service number was 51349. He left his effects to his sister, Annie Lomas, whose husband was James (Jim) Lomas.

Harry's brother, William, served as a sapper in the First World War and survived it.
