Corporal Maurice Fredrick Topham (b. 27.7.1898) trained at Raikeswood Camp, Skipton as part of the 6th Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment. He went to France as replacement for the Highland Light Infantry. He was killed in action on 29/9/1918 when with 9th Battalion HLI. He is buried at Targelle Ravine Cemetery, Villiers Guislan, France. There is a photo of his original grave marker. His parents visited the grave around 1922 hence the need for a passport.
