John Glenton served with the Duke of Wellington's Regiment (267507). On the group of 6 sergeants, John is on the back row, 2nd from the right. He was demoted to Corporal after being caught smoking whilst on sentry duty. Ironically, all the men in the photo are smoking! John died in 1949 after suffering from bronchitis which may well have been aggravated by the effect of gas in WW1. Joseph Glenton was the youngest brother and served with the 1/6th Battalion, West Yorkshire Regiment (241741).
