2271: Pte James Murray's War Medal and Soldier's Small Book

Private James Murray 9114 of the West Yorkshire Regiment was living at 248 Mount St, Leeds St, Bradford when he enlisted in the regular army aged 18 on 17.4.1909. He was born in Baildon. Hid blood-stained Soldiers' Small Book and British War Medal with letter were found in 1976 in a secret drawer of a desk. How the book came back to Britain is unclear as James' body was not found.

According to CWGC records, James died on March 10th 1915 and he is remembered at Le Touret Memorial, France.
