1531: John and Robert Quay (newspaper cuttings)

John and Christina Quay lived in Winnipeg, after emigrating from Scotland. Their three sons, Adam, John and Robert, who had all been born in Glasgow, joined the forces in Canada fairly early in the war and came to Europe.

Robert was killed during 1916. He was reported missing on 10th October 1916. John died from wounds sustained at the battle of Langemarcke.

Text from newspaper obituaries: "Brothers Killed on Field of Battle Two sons of Mr & Mrs C Quay, 281 Lipton Street, have been killed in action and the third is now training at Shorn Fife. Pte Robert Quay reported late last week as killed, after being on the missing since October 10th 1916. Pte John Quay who went with the first contingent attached to the 106th Regiment, died from wounds after the battle of Langemarcke. He was employed by the Canadian Northern Railway before the war. The other boy Pte Adam Quay is with a Winnipeg medical corp now at Shorecliffe. Before enlisting he worked in Winnipeg General Hospital."
