online resource

Rosemary is the Granddaughter of George Edgar Hyde.

George's wife wrote a diary of life at home whilst George was doing his training in Reading Barracks. George was in the Royal Buckingham & Berkshire Regiment and served in France. His daughter Evelyn did not recognise him when he returned home.

After the war George was a milkman and he never spoke about the war. He died in 1963.

Rosemary brought in the diary, a photo of George, a handkerchief and a number of letters he sent to his daughter.
