<p dir="ltr">Harold was Roger's maternal grandfather. He was born 10th September 1890 in Swindon, Wiltshire. His occupation was a Collier before he joined the Navy.</p><p dir="ltr">His service record shows the "Date and Period of C.S. Engagements" is 10th September 1908 - 12 yrs age 18. He was made an Able in July 1909. He entered the Fleet Reserve. His first service date was 30th June 1906 aboard the Impregnable. His last ship was Victory 1 and he left 4th June 1921. He received a long service medal in the RFR, he had joined 4th October 1913. His service number was 236885 and he served for 12 years.</p><p dir="ltr">He was awarded 4 medals: 1914 - 15 Star British War Medal 1914 -1918 Victory Medal Long Service and Good Conduct Medal</p><p dir="ltr">In the war he served on a number of ships.</p><p dir="ltr">He died 18th January 1934 in Somerset.</p><p dir="ltr">The family story was that he was 12 years old when he joined.</p>
