Penelope Maitland writes to Charlotte West to congratulate her on the birth of her child (inferred as Louisa Ann) and send her well wishes for recovery. She mentions her own son in Holland and his diarrhoea. Asks that Charlotte sends her good wishes to their friends in Sloane Square. Mentions the ongoing correspondence between their two husbands: Augustus West and Alexander Maitland. Transcribed by students on the Bodleian Student Editions programme.
