The Asphendou basin, 720-800 m altitude (8.15). A dozen hamlets, inhabited in summer, are surrounded by vineyards and remaining cultivation. Remnants of a strong perimeter wall enclose the basin. Going far up the hillsides around are remains of grain-growing terraces in successive states of abandonment. Looking N. July 1995.
