Anopoli Plain, at 580 m, with vineyards, hedges, and hedgerow trees, and hamlets at the edge of the plain. The fields have a degree of regularity, suggesting ancient planning. The surrounding hard limestone slopes, barren though they look, are covered with enclosure walls (sometimes double, with a kaldirimi between). On them are remains of terraces wherever a little soil has accumulated. Looking NE. July 1987.
