Contains research notes, a short story for children about embroidery and accepted behaviour in those days, some hand-drawn illustrations.
Covers, briefly, weaving, dyeing, tapestry, embroidery, class and embroidery, descriptions of Bayeaux, The Durham stole, Maseik Embroideries, various stitches used, materials and tools, dateline of known embroideries, a bibliography.
A somewhat male chauvinist quote ends the work - Faemne aet hyre bordan gerised. (A woman's place is at her embroidery.)
