Sara Allgood

Irish actress who began her career at the Abbey Theatre and gained popularity with her roles in Sean O'Casey's plays. Her film career included roles in several early Hitchcock films. At the 14th Academy Awards, she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in How Green Was My Valley. She became an American citizen in 1945. Allgood was rumored to have planned a reading in London of Anna Livia Plurabelle in September 1932. Geert Lernout and William Brockman
