John Holroyd-Reece

English-German translator and publisher, a leader in the development of the modern paperback edition. He founded the Albatross Press, which published Dubliners in 1932. Under an imprint of Albatross, the Odyssey Press, he published Ulysses, also in 1932. In 1934 Holroyd-Reece took over the long-established German publisher Tauchnitz, which in 1930 had published a "continental" edition of A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man. William Brockman
