Born in England of Irish parents, studied music at Oxford and moved to Ireland in 1910. Geoffrey Molyneux Palmer wrote several operas based on Irish sagas and composed tunes for popular songs and ballads that were published in England. Palmer's career was restricted by multiple sclerosis that manifested itself while he was in his twenties. As his illness progressed, he was cared for by his sisters in Dublin. Palmer was the first to compose settings for Chamber Music, and JJ was very pleased with the result. The music, long presumed lost, was rediscovered in 1982 in the library of Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Tim O'Neill
